Christmas is a time of sharing and caring and this December, you are warmly invited to join us in igniting hope and light at the “Light Up a Life Christmas Carol Concert” hosted by the Society for the Promotion of Hospice Care (SPHC). This special event not only honours the memory of those we have lost, but also serves as an occasion to reflect and celebrate life.
The funds raised from the concert will support the SPHC's Subsidy Bed Scheme, which aims to provide comprehensive palliative care and bereavement support services for terminal patients, their families, and caregivers, allowing them to embark on their final journey with dignity alongside their loved ones.
The "Light Up a Life Christmas Carol Concert" will take place on 3rd December 2024 (Tuesday) at 7:15 PM at St. John's Cathedral on Garden Road, Central, Hong Kong. After the concert, attendees are invited to enjoy traditional Christmas mince pies and spiced mulled wine in the garden, and soak in the warm and festive atmosphere with family and friends.
A centrepiece of the concert will be the "Tree of Life", a poignant dedication to the deceased and the gravely ill. In addition to sharing hymns and singing Christmas carols, we warmly encourage you to write your heartfelt messages onto the cards provided, which we will then hang on the “Tree of Life”. During the concert, we will hold a lighting ceremony for the “Tree of Life” as a symbol of remembrance for those we have lost and the rekindling of the spark of life.
After the concert, the “Tree of Life” will be relocated to the Jockey Club Home for Hospice (JHCC) in Shatin where it will continue to spread hope and blessings among its patients. We will also continue to collect heartfelt cards to hang on the “Tree of Life”, ensuring that each message of love endures.
