The Society for the Promotion of Hospice Care was funded by the Innovation and Technology Fund for Better Living from 1 April 2018 to develop an integrated healthcare system with web portal, mobile app and software providing palliative and hospice care service
Current practice is solely based on professionals’ on-site assessment and relies on carers’subjective report. This iPAHCs invites remote participation of patients and carers through monitoring of vital signs at home between visits. Patients could also share and unload their stress without worrying that they will upset the carers.
Through the integration of feedback from the daily use of the iPAHC system and corresponding updates, the system may serve as a protocol for other NGOs, thereby assisting to advance the service quality as the population of Hong Kong ages and the demand for quality hospice and palliative service for terminal patients surges.
